Hold the Stuffing at the Office

  • Recruit a Hold the Stuffing "buddy" at work to encourage you
  • Carry water or a low-calorie beverage in one hand and a folder in the other so you won't have a spare hand as you pass the goodie table
  • Bring your favorite low-fat dish to office parties so you'll know there will be at least one healthy item you will enjoy eating: fruit tray, bagels with low-fat cream cheese, vegetables with low-fat dip, salad with low-fat dressing
  • Do not to go to work hungry
  • If you receive a food gift, pass it around the office to share; don't put it in your desk drawer
  • Give yourself permission to have small tastes of your favorite foods
  • Keep tempting snacks and treats out of sight; ask co-workers if goodies can be stored in a remote area or if lids/covers can be kept on food in your office
  • Keep a water bottle at your desk to remind you to drink lots of water
  • If you lose control and binge, forgive yourself; put the past behind you, and renew your efforts
  • Keep an apple, raisins, pretzels, or other low-fat snacks in your desk to eat when you need a snack
  • Before eating at work, ask yourself if you are really hungry
