Withdrawal Signs and Symptoms

Any of these symptoms can occur within a few hours of last usage. You should consult your physician if you experience any of these symptoms.

Alcohol: Mild to Moderate

  • Restlessness

  • Agitation

  • Tremors

  • Over-reaction to bright lights or loud noises

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Loss of appetite

  • Very rapid heart beat

  • Elevated blood pressure

  • Fever

  • Anxiety/depression

  • Headache

  • Insomnia

Alcohol: Severe

  • Seizures

  • Hallucinations

  • Death

Narcotics/Opiates: Chronic Users

  • Restlessness

  • Watery eyes

  • Yawning

  • Dilated pupils

  • Runny nose

  • Sniffing

  • Sneezing

  • Sweating

  • Flushing

  • Very rapid heart beat

  • Elevated blood pressure

  • Fever

  • Muscle cramps

  • Abdominal cramps

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

Stimulant Drugs: Chronic Users

  • Severe depression with suicidal/homicidal ideation

  • Exhaustion

  • Prolonged sleep

  • Extreme increase in appetite

Depressive Drugs -- Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines: Mild to Moderate

  • Restlessness

  • Anxiety

  • Agitation

  • Tremor

  • Abdominal cramps

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Jumpiness

  • Elevated blood pressure

  • Headache

  • Insomnia

Depressive Drugs -- Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines: Severe

  • Seizures

  • Delirium

Cannabis: Chronic Users

  • Mild irritability

  • Agitation

  • Insomnia
